Homecoming is always a festive time for any campus. It raises competition and instills extra school spirit for that given week. This year, Katie Garren, was a nominee for the 2011 East Tennessee State University Homecoming Queen along with Hunter Smith. They represented the Admissions Ambassadors, the Residence Hall Association, and the Student Government Association. She was one of nine ladies in the running for the crown. In the end, Katie did not win the title, but was officially presented as part of the 2011 Homecoming Court.
Even though I didn't win, I appreciate everyone's support so much. There are 15, 000 students on our campus and I was one out of nine chosen for this. It was a real honor to have this opportunity, says Katie.
The 2011 Queen is Rachel Bates and the 2011 King is Donovan Reed.
